The original price of the first EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM back in 2001 was 280,000 yen, or USD $3,050.44, not adjuted for inflation. The same lens currently retails for about USD $1,699, some nine years later.
I know we are all hoping for the II version to begin at no higher than $2,200-$2,500, but realistically, there is a very good chance it will be close to $3,000, if not more.
Yeah, it would seem that way, but the pricing doesn't work like that.
Let's take the recent 24 TS-E L lens.
On the Canon Japan website it's ￥250,000
On the Canon U.S.A. website it's $2199.00
However, if you use a currency convertor to convert 250k yen to USD you get: $2,711.00
About $500 USD difference.
I think (hope) it will be about $2250 USD. Though realistically, it will be $2.3-2.4k
