It's not like the current lens is a dog, it's very very good.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I don't touch "new to the market" gear any more. I'd rather leave it 3-6 months for the price to stabilise to a more realistic level and the QC on the prodution like to get a descent shake down too.

Agreed. Give it some time for debugging

Over here in Paris the lens will retail for 2399 euros. So with today's exchange rate around 3,351 USD but expect the price of this to be either:

2899
2999

in USD.

+2. Sometimes, haste makes waste.

Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.

Omaru - that is much cheaper in Paris than the initial price here in the UK of £2700.

It would be cheaper to get the train over have a lovely lunch in Paris, get the lens and then the train back to the UK.

I'm in agreement with you in your estimation of the US price.

it'l be much less than that. Net out VAT, 20%, and reduce the price for the european premium.

I think it will be much closer to 2K than 3K. Most likely 2199$

On sale tomorrow in France? Wow...can't wait to read some initial reviews. I'm waiting to read some of the reviews before I make my decision on whether to purchase used Mark I or new Mark II. As for pricing, I think it will be close to Nikon's offering and that is $2400 CDN.

Canon 7D, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, Canon 70-200 f4 IS, Tokina 11-16 f2.8, and Sigmalux.

My guess is like Mark1, 1999 list, street 1600-1700
Mk2 list 2399, street 1900-2000 (Lowest price is when canon having a rebate)It's just a little improve IMO.
I bought MK1 3 weeks ago at Amazon gold box for 1612, I decided to returned and wait. Will buy back Mk1 or F4 IS if the Mk2 price is too high so I doubt Canon will set high price on that.
I also think Canon will discontinued Mk1. So used market for Mk1 will likely to stay the same or lower a little (1300-1500) and Used MK2 (after the market stable) will around 1600-1800
is that makes sense? haha, just a wild guess.
