It seems I'm not the ony one, and it's doing permanent damage to my battery! Hmmm interesting, is it limited to laptops? or netbooks as well? Website

As explained above, the issue is more likely to be with defective batteries not Win7. "Don't believe everything you read on the Internet" - Winston Churchill

That's the point - there is no problem. Win7 has a small issue identifying battery types - that's all. I does not damage batteries. Shame they don't have a callibrate tool like my 1D batteries Rich - if it's lithion, running them down to zero does no good - in fact it can be harmful. They are not like the old nicad's - quite the opposite in fact and they don't suffer from "memory effect". "Don't believe everything you read on the Internet" - Winston Churchill

She's had it for about 4 years now. The Dell website are pretty expensive, so I'll look on eBay.

Make sure to read the MSDN thread, I'm just explaining my symptons, because a handfull of people are experiencing this issue doesn't mean it's everyone, hover if your out on a photoshoot and seeing your battery life dropping rapidly over a few months/weeks after install W7, then it could be the same issue.
