You'd be surprised Matt coming from farming stock I can tell you that if the field is used for livestock you have to make sure that you don't keep the same livestock on it all the time as cows and horses leave the grass quite long and sheep will crop it very short, horses tend to leave all their dung in certain places not eat there and this results in very thick grass where they crap and bare patches where they eat, while sheep and cows will crap anywhere and eat anywhere so dragging a harrow across the field will spread the manure round the field also a grass field will need to be rested and nutrients replace and stones will need to be removed ans fields do tend to grow stones.
