I'd burn the BG under his leg and then maybe move the blacks triangle of a levels adjustment in towards the middle to taste where contrast has been lost due to flare on the dad using a mask to kinda gradient it on to him. Minus exposure neutral density filter starting from the upper left in Lightroom? If you shoot RAW (which I'm pretty sure you do), you should still have all the data there and the ND filter in LR is quick and easy to apply.
