What do you guys think of this -

QUOTED IMAGE

Looks nice, what is it?

evenin' all...

seems everyone is getting a taste for torchlight - there was a cool little project in this months Digital Camera Mag (subscription arrived yesterday) - a spiralling light round a bottle - a simple idea really well executed!

I'm always up for some light fun. Problem is I always go blank about what to paint when I'm standing out there :D

I liked the fact that the e-mail was getting people to try fun little DIY projects rather than just snapping pictures, it's the little things like that that keep photography interesting.

Very neat, Matt. simple and very effective.

Now you need to find a light that changes colours in cycles.

Harry has a globe thing that has LED's inside that spins, if I can find it I'll take it apart and give it ago! :D

Erm - I have no idea, it was just at the field on Sunday, and it looked pretty. Also there was an old BBQ (have no idea how it got there)

Nice effect, Matt. A coloured one would look fabulous!

Not as many as you'd have thought.. I tend to buy a cheaper version and use that instead! Lol ..

Easy to do, just need a strip light covered in coloured gels I reckon.

ah k. Do those gels have that kind of lined effect on them already?

I got this e-mail today through Flickr:

"Hi, my names John graham im an artist from Newbiggin by the sea in Norhumberland. Im mainly a Portrait painter but have started doing the odd wildlife painting, im loving your work great shots and so crisp! would it be possible to use any of your work as a reference for future paintings, your Fox's are fab. My web site is www.johngrahamart.com (external link) if you would like a look. yours John"

I've had one of my photographs used for a painting before but that was a friend of a friend, whereas this is out of the blue.

Thoughts anyone?

I don't see why not. A friend of mine is an artist and does a similar thing: http://www.gilesillsleyfineart.com/ (external link)

Did anyone get an e-mail from Warehouse Express today called "Creative Photo Projects for 2010"? Actually quite an interesting e-mail and a good selling technique.

This book it advertised looked good. (external link)

Yeah, I got one. Thought they were monitoring this thread or something as it came through just after the chat about light painting!

Nah, probably lots of different coloured ones stuck together. The gels are about the size of a flash head usually.
