I don't know if anyone has been following the winter Olympics on the news but the Canadians are running a policy called " own the podium " part of this policy includes letting Canadian bob sleigh/luge/skellington team have 300 hours practice on the runs while all other teams only get 30 hours. This doesn't strike me as very sporting so maybe when the Olympics come to London a similar policy should be adopted to increase our medal count.

What like have our marathon runners practice around Chelsea while the rest of the world get Brixton?

Yes - I heard about that. Some people were trying to attribute that as a possible cause fo the Georgian luge riders death. Not sure if it's that extreme but certainly not in the spirit of the Olympics.

The same bit had an interview with the guy running the Olympics and he said that the British press was reporting nothing but bad news about the games from what I've seen on the news it doesn't seem that well run with the Olympic flame behind chain link fence so punters can't see it properly and the death of the Georgian guy it would seem things are not quite right but that could be negative reporting ;)

I think the eye are a touch too sharpened and the the skin as lost a bit too much texture. The highlights above the chair pull my eye away from her a bit also.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll do another edit tonight and pay mind to what you've said above, cheers Sylvester :)

Had my first slightly reasonable sale today on shutterstock ( micro stock site ) instead of the normal 25 cents per download got $28. I know it is pittance but made me feel better about myself while I am waiting for the big sales to come through on Alamy

Nice :) I still haven't even bothered to attempt anything on Alamy.

Bad press sells papers, but saying that I dont remember the Olymmpics, Winter or otherwise' attracting quite this much negativety before

Right, going to go and eat cheese and read a book. TV is crap tonight.

You may find it easier to work on one aspect at a time.

Find some shade and use natural light (1 light source) and work on composition.

Then bring in a flash use it a fill or to add highlight/ background separation with the ambient light.

then add another flash, use ambient as fill, one as main other to separate and build from there.

Composition and exposure 1st I would say.

"fixing" in post is not impossible but it may be more beneficial if you looked at post as the equivalent to developing film and put your time into getting the image right in camera.

Also shooting at 1.8 you may not get enough of the subject in focus, which may of may not be what you want and the slightest shake can cause you to lose focus, although when dealing with flash it is the duration of the flash that freezes the image.

That is quite alot of words for me picture...

$28 is still a sale, and that is brilliant news, Adrian. Well done! :)
