Kirk L plate compatibility

Does anyone know if the Kirk L plate for the Canon 1D MkIII would fit a Canon 30D with the battery grip? I realise it won't be a perfect match for the shape of the camera, but I've seen a used one for sale for a good price and I'll compromise if it basically fits.

I would be surprised if it would mount in any manner that would leave the camera usable. I'd hold out for a plate that is designed for the 30D.

I dont think it would mount. A 30D plate should be cheaper than a 1D plate anyhow, so keep looking for the right one. These things are machined to fit specific bodies.

For reference.

I have a RRS plate for the 1DMKII and use it on the 5D with grip a few times. It's a bit bigger but it will mount fine, you just have to reverse it and have the "curve" side to the front. It'll work fine, not pretty but will work.

I have the RRS L-plate for the 1DmkIII and it does not fit the 30D with the grip very well. Yes, you'll be able to mount the L-plate on the 30D with the grip but it won't be squared. Since the L-plates are contoured to the body, I imagine the same would be true with the Kirk plates, too.

To correct my post above, it was the body plate I was talking about not the L plate now that I reread the OP.
