West Coast of Scotland

These shots were taken today from a narrow promontory called Rubha na Cille, lying on the west coast on the Kintyre peninsula, between the Sound of Jura and Loch na Cille.

The weather was changeable.
The first shot was taken earlier in the day and the second later when the weather improved.

Both are taken from the tip of the promontory Rubha na Cille.
The first looks towards the Paps of Jura, the second towards Keills Chapel, back along the promontory.

Any comments and critique welcome.

I like both images - the horizon is off by about 160ish deg CCW on the first image

Boththe skies work very well in both images but the second one is stunning in my book.

Yes, I too like the sky in the second shot.
Do you think the foreground looks out of place, since the background is in shade from cloud cover ?

I love the second shot especially , it's like a painting
the skies can be beautiful and dramatic and so changeable in these islands, perfect for paintings, or really nice photographs

Aye they are both lovely.. I'd have to agree with others the second one is spectacular.. Love it.

You're right, there is a ruggedness and wildness about the area. That's exactly what I like about it. That and the fact that the weather can be so changeable, as well as difficult to predict coming in from the Atlantic. I'm sure you know that only too well.

BTW Sky and the BBC predicted the best of the weather would be morning with rain coming in at around 3 or 4 pm. The second shot was taken around 4pm and the weather improved.............w​hy do we listen.

I remember playing golf at the Balcomie Links near Crail, then St Andrews the next day. I think we stayed in the Balcomie Links Hotel, if there is such a place, but I might be wrong.

Both shots are special, Cameron, suitable for framing.

Both shots do show a ruggedness that is very appealing. (If there is a Walmart just out of view don't tell me!). The colors in both images work very well together. The second one for me too. I like the lightness of the foreground. And I like the feeling of unexplored land that it gives.

I think he meant 1.60 degrees. I measured at 1.71 but I'm new at this too.

Just back from around that area - these are awesome shots! Especially, as has been mentioned, the sky in the second.

That'll teach you to visit the local hostelry before shooting
