capturing still images from AVI

Does anyone know how to go about capturing the best possible quality stills (i.e., images) from an AVI file?

Most decent video editing programs allow you to grab a screen shot from the video. If that fails you can try ctrl prnt scrn then paste in PS, Paint, etc.
