Ha! You people should've taken me up on my offer to buy your old, crappy version 1 antiques!

I'm missing what's so improved?

They needed the II so they could compete with the new Nikon 70-200 VR II. The 70-200 is kindof an old lens now. I'm sure it'll be slightly improved, maybe a bit faster to focus to match the new cameras or slightly better glass, but i'll definitely not be selling my V1.

Apparently, it's going to be significantly more money, as well. I must be missing something...

Aside from trolling, I really don't see the purpose of this thread.

Supposedly:

More glass, better optics.
Better/faster AF
Shorter MFD
Improved IS - allows up to 4 more stops of SS.


All press release hype but it reads well. Can't figure out what the street price will be though.

The 70-200 is a staple for a lot of wedding photographers here.

Your first post made it seem like you were taking a shot at owners of the current 70-200.
