Anyone get a weird feeling when they show up to events with your SLR?
I noticed especially over Christmas that whenever I was at someones house and they all had their point and shoots out and cell phones taking pictures, (here I am with my XS, nice lens with the 430 EX ii on top and big neckstrap)there was a weird air between all that....I overheard "hang on for the fashion photographer..." from someone (tried to find out who it was, no one owned up to it)...input?

I used to think about it, but after the first few times you tend to tune it out.

It is amazing how often those people are the ones blown away by your pictures though.

As Kgoings said, I think envy has a lot to do with it - they would love to have the camera/kit or would love a shot of it.

Nope, not any more. At first, I felt weird lugging around my gear when others have a point and shoot. Then I realized that I was getting the shots and they weren't. Those who are snickering will be the first ones to ask to send them your shot because they didn't get it. Don't let it ruffle your feathers.

I used to be the only one with a DSLR, but I have not only been matched, but passed by my family. I now show up with my 350D, but my sister and hubby show up with their THREE 5DMkII's (one each and a spare!!), my other sister with a 40D, and my sister in law with her 50D.

So I'm now the one with envy!!

Actuall y they have asked for my images because their full frontal flash beams washed stuff out, when they seen my "bounced flash" shots they were amazed...(haha and snicker to myself)
