Did a search and couldn't find any similar threads, so I figured I'd start my own.

Having recently purchased a Pixma Pro 9500, I was faced the "space" issue, ie. how do I use such a large printer in my relatively small bedroom/office/work area/personal space? For 2 weeks it sat on the floor, but that was a temporary solution. During the Christmas break I had the time (and resources) available to find a proper solution, and voila!

Drawers for drying prints, can hold 4 13x19's, 10 8.5x11, or about 50 4x6's. Plenty of space for my rate of output.

It cost me just a tad over $100 in supplies (6 board feet of solid birch, 2 full sheets of birch plywood, 2 sets of slim-line rollers, various finishing products), and took about 10 hours total to construct, not including several days of glue drying and varnish drying.

Anyone else done something similar? I would love to see the creative and/or hand-crafted solutions that have been used by ever-resourceful POTN'ers.

That's very well done and would be a very marketable commodity to photographers I would think.

Heres my solution to severe space problems. I use a spare bedroom that has to revert to its primary purpose on occasion, so was told it had to look reasonably tidy. I used a flat pack desk and cut down an existing bookshelf to fit the space left.

I can just fit the R2880 onto the shelf and paper feeds in via a gap behind the shelf above.

Richard, don't you get a terribly sore neck when your screen is way off to the left? ???

Might want to build another shelf to put the monitor on and then the keyboard can be right underneath. You guys have some awesome setups!

Rene, I'm left handed as well which in theory should make it even worse! But surprisingly, not so far is the answer. Without expanding into the loft it is the best I can do.

My biggest problem is the PC itself. My previous case sat very neatly on a shelf under the desk top, it's replacement is twice the size and has to sit under the desk. I carefully avoided showing that in shot you notice - I thought computers were supposed to be getting smaller, not bigger?

Currently working on a 15" MBP, I have a 17" LCD off to the side wall mounted for coding and stuff. I'll take a pic of the whole setup if I can get it cleaned up and presentable :)

I've been wanting a big 22-24" LCD for ages, but I want an LCD backlight, and high resolution to go with it. Unfortunately an EIZO is currently out of the budget, so I must wait until NEC or Samsung etc. release what I want.

That's a pretty vertical solution! I like that you just modified an existing bookshelf and desk.

I used a spare bedroom the wife was already using for her computer. Took out closet doors and converted the space. I was using a desk area in the kitchen, but light and lack of space forced me out.

^^ Nice! You can put on a mile or two while waiting for your 13x19's to print.
