Ixus v3 ISO settings in Auto mode

Hello,

I've just bought the Ixus v3 (S230) and I've a quick question.
If I take an image in automatic mode, do you know which ISO setting is used ? I would expect it to be using the auto mode (between 50 and 150 ISO following the manual) but the default value in manual mode is 50 ISO ... so I'm a little bit confused.
Any idea how to check which ISO setting was used for each individual picture? I checked the metadata of my pictures using ACDSee but I couldn't find the information.

I think that you'll find the information if you view the properties using the 'Zoombrowser EX' program that comes with the camera. It is more geared to the meta information that the camera provides. Just select the picture and click properties on the menu above the pictures - it will tell you ISO speed, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, date, time, etc.

Thanks for the tip.
However, if I look at the metadata of pictures taken in auto mode ... it tells me: "ISO: Auto".
So, there's no way to know which ISO speed was actually used ?

My apologies - I thought that Zoombrowser would have given that data. I always shoot in "manual" mode and generally select my own ISO - I just assumed that it would display that same data in either Auto or Manual.

By the way, you really don't lose much automation by shooting in Manual and selecting your own ISO - the camera still selects an aperture/shutter speed appropriate to the situation, based on what ISO you select. I found it helpful to select 100 or even 200 when taking flash pictures indoors as it seems to fill in the surrounding areas better. Keep in mind though (and you probably already know this) that you'll increase the noise or "graininess" of the picture as you go to a higher ISO setting.
