that will be the Sigma ringflash and 150mm lens and judging by reflections you have one bulb completely turned off? Anyway looks sharp so good macro days ahead when the snow clears....

Some time ago I created a thread in the macro talk section regarding my Sigma ring flash (discussing whether I should keep it or not), and things have progressed a fair amount since you last replied to the thread; would you possibly be able to give me some advice regarding the situation I'm now in? I'm leaning towards returning the flash because it simply doesn't produce the results I'm after when mounted to the lens; here's what I most recently posted in the thread:

Does this look like a good choice? I've seen a lot of people with their flashguns sidemounted and positioned above their lens using an extension arm - why is this? Why not just attach the arm directly to the hotshoe on the camera? Probably a stupid question, my apologies!

Also, does anyone know where I can get the Barber Tech Flexi Arm (or something equivalent) besides B&H? I live in the UK and the P&P is VERY expensive (more expensive than the arm itself!) and it total it would cost me over £60!

Any help or advice would again be much appreciated!

B and H has them but the reviews for the shorter ones are very poor. Nobody has reviewed "Flexi Arm" yet.

novoflex has a gooseneck with hot shoe (cold shoe) on the flash side and a 1/4-20 on the opposite side in two (or three) lengths. According to B&H, it can hold the 430 ex2 well, while giving you flexibility. I can neither confirm nor deny.

Wow! Nice shots! Can you describe (or show) how you're flash was setup ? because I tried taking a similar picture of my girlfriend's eye, however, the flash caused a big glare on her eye, and her eyelashes cast shadows.

and for that shot i had my flash directly on top of the lens, with a slight downward angle (obviously i was going to get SOME glare, but you don't see to have any!!)
