Sigma 27-70 f2.8 (#548101)
Canon 24-70 2.8L (#8014A002)

I'm looking for a new midrange lens to replace my 28-105 MKII USM and I'm think about either of these...

I know the price range is much different but is the extra $700.00 worth it?

Sigma has a newer 24-70 2.8 HSM lens... price is closer to the Canon one, but still cheaper

if you're not doing this professionally, the cheaper of the 3 really is fine... if you want faster & quieter focus (and other benefits like build quality, etc..) the other 2 deserve a good look

and as sidenote... your gulfcoasttundras.com link is not setup properly... goes to a deadend, but you'll see what needs correcting as soon as you look at it

I owned the Canon 24-70 F2.8L and sold it.

I am now considering the new Sigma to replace it. IMHO, the quality and performance of the Canon is poor for hte price you pay, but I can't say the Sigma would be any better until I give it a shot, as there aren't very many reviews on it.

Is the tamron 28-75 in your sights at all? I am thinking about that lens to fill in a huge hole in my lineup (22-50). Either that or a prime but I'm not sure I need/want a prime in that range. or do I.
