M42 and Running Man - Dec 2008 and Jan 2010

Despite the inclement weather I have managed to add a further hour or so to my previous M42 data bringing the total to 3 and a bit hours. Really needs more yet to get the noise under control and I could do with some short subs to mask out for the trap region. Adding more data has allowed more faint detail to be teased out.

Great job Chris, loads of detail and nicely balanced. You did an excellent job on the trapezium restoration.

http://www.pbase.com/c​hris_bailey/image/1208​60701 is pretty much full size. Had to crop a fiar bit due to not having great rotational alignment across the various imaging sessions

Ok , thats good . I saw the original and hit F11 on the key board so i could see the thing wide open and it looked really good ( i have a 19" wide screen samsung) ! Mainly i wanted a closer look at the trapizium . Thanks for posting .

I do really need to integrate some shorter exposures of the trap as using HDR Wavelets in Pixinsight can only go so far in recovering detail for high luminance value portions. Not too sure as yet how to do it as yet. This is the first time I have processed an image in PixInsight from start to finish and my brain is still aching from the experience.

Nice work mate. I managed to get another 4 hours of data of 15min subs for my one, but the mist and sky / snow glow made the 4 hours worth not much use. Oh well.

Superb work there by you mate, you are one of the ones that gives me inspiration to emulate.
