Just put in the order for my first L glass: 70-200 2.8IS. Yeah yeah yeah ... I know the MKII will come out in February or March or April (whatever); but I'm not going to be able to afford that. Since I can't use my grant funds for a used lens, I decided now was the right time to pull the trigger. Have also bought the thrifty fifty, a 430EX II (which I'm thinking about exchanging for the 580 just because), a grip, and other stuff in the last month. Oy. I guess the PEAD is in full effect.

Mmmmmm ... L glass. <<drool>>

Sooooo ... which other noobs out there are sliding down the slope fast?

Wife, kids, mortgage, college tuition, car payments etc. tend to curb these things. I just buy what I need anymore - too much stuff becomes a burden ;)

PEAD also known as GAS(Gear Aquistion Syndrome) is a serious affliction and should not be taken lightly! Good luck stopping the beast. :)

I'm sure I'm infected but it takes me so long to figure out how to use each new thing I buy that the gaps between purchases mask the symptoms!

You need to acknowledge, then embrace the addiction. That way the healing can begin!

Count me in.

I've been meticulously planning and budgeting for ages now, but I've more or less completed (waiting on a 105mm polariser, another 77mm protector and a Heliopan 10-stop) a complete bag overhaul, culminating in all of my Christmas bonus leaving my account within about an hour of it landing. Still, it's nice to know I've done it carefully and bought proper stuff for what I do, and I think I'll suffer another bout of GAS for a while :) (hopefully!)

Rob

I've just spent $13K on new glass! With my wife's insistance!

The new windows in the house were necessary and have helped curb my equipment purchases. With all the other reno's it has also made a major dent in photo time too!

I wonder if I'll get to use some of the money I saved by DIY to add a 24-105?
