haven't practiced my piano anywhere as much as i have in my youth, especially since the wife and kids entered the picture. I've started studying under my wonderful mentor and teacher and I've got the bug again to learn some insanely challenging music. Bring it on, Liszt!

Shot today with 1 umbrella'd strobe at full power and stopped down quite a bit. Had to close off several open windows to reduce reflections. Most of all, I had to polish this baby up and clean those hard wood tiles!

Subtle glow effect used to add a little emotion and a round vignette to enhance the central composition.

Wow, what a tough shot. Nothing like a little back lighting to make things easier. You did a great job on the floor too.

I can't play anything and have no rhythm, but I can get carried off by piano music. :)

I like the way this one is framed. I also like the softness of it. Nice shot. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! My piano is my 1st love - had it since I was 10. I wanted to capture it properly to reflect exactly what it means to me. If I could accompany any particular piece with this picture it would be Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major. (the most recognizable one)

It was a treat playing pieces such as the Nocturne when the piano was at my parents, in a more remote neighborhood... especially when the window was open and you could be accompanied by the sound of light rain. Now that I'm smack in the middle of the city I'm afraid I won't be treated by quite the same ambient background sounds!

I love a couple things about this shot. The exposure is spot on, and in itself lends a feeling to the photo. The soft focus gives the nostalgia feel. The framing is perfect.
