I just noticed how much of a ripoff Flickr is. I can't upload 100 photos without hitting my cap...

And yet strangely enough if you pay the small fee you can upload anything you bloody like at full res and it becomes a very good photo backup...

You're on the free account man, what do expect, miracles?

Cheers, Dave.

Well, kind of, yeah. I know web hosts out there that give you 5GB space free, for whatever you want. :|

You just called a free service a rip-off? Go sign-up for the 5GB free space with these webhosts you know. What a dopey thread.

Its only a monthly cap. Just wait and upload more later. Or open a second account.

Considering how large Flickr is, do you honestly think that they could "give" everyone 5gb free...some groups have over 7 million images and over 40,000 members..do the math before you complain..

5GB for me might represent 1500 images @ full size jpeg and if I were to use off site back up your solution would be full in about 90 days MAX.

This is the definition of rip-off from the dictionary app in OS X

Rip-off: a fraud or swindle, esp. something that is grossly overpriced.

Seeing as how you are using a free account,I don't see how this fits. I think a more apt word would be 'restrictive' or 'limited', rather than 'rip-off'. Saying things like this makes you look like an ass. I'm not saying you are, but calling a free service a 'rip-off' is lame.

Wow, I would be PISSED. You should demand a refund!

Alternately, you could resize your images to like 1200px wide and make them about 500kb each.

Google does. :)

I mean honestly, Flickr vs. Picasa. Picasa wins hands down simply because you don't have to pay to use it, and plus, I'm pretty iffy about buying/paying for things/services online. And yes, I do think they can give at least free members 2GB or something without any limits. Hell, 1GB is more than enough for me...

Flickr for me is $2 / month offsite image storage and a way to share non-commercial photos with my extended family.

There are no free services that meet my specific needs in that regards.

Same reason I went Zenfolio. $2 a month (well $25/yr) for the 1GB plan. 1GB is a lot if you resize them all to 1200-1600px for web view. I always felt like flickr made my images too tiny and most people can't figure out the all sizes button. I want people to see my good images full screen. Zenfolio made that a lot easier.
