Hi guys

Decided to give it go this past sunday, as we had blue skies and sun for the first time in weeks. All shots with the 7D and 100-400mm L. Some were also on tripod, some not. Exif intact.

Full gallery HERE (external link) more views of each aircraft.

Enjoy, Chris

1. Aer Lingus Airbus A320. This one didn't make it on first attempt, as previous aircraft hadn't cleared, so he had to make a go-around.

Sweet images! So how close do they let you get to that runway before the police come asking questions?

And I'll just say this: "BOOOOOOO Star Alliance!!" I always have the worst time trying to use Star Alliance miles across the system. Freaking Luftansa wants a written request letter two weeks in advance of flight. Yeah, that's convenent. A lot of times I have less notice than a week to make upgrades happen. It's almost to the point of not even having the miles.

Sorry for the rant...

That's a really sharp lens you have there, great images!

I love flying into Zurich. I've had much fun in fast cars in CH. Nice pics! Dont' forget to get pics of the guards carrying MP5's at the airport. I love seeing that.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Zurich is very well set up for photogs. There are various places around the fence, where they have hard standing car parks, and food and drink huts. If you want to sit with your back to the fence, no probs. Also have a very nice observation area, currently on the platform on E dock while B terminal is rebuilt. But nicely situated at the main runway intersection of 16/34 and 10/28.

Mumbles, as I work at the airport, I don't even notice the MP5s these days :-) sign of the times.

Thanks. I do like the lear, just a bit more colourful than the usual mostly white.

I personally like the shots with the houses in the background. Is it possible to get them oncoming and also get some houses in the background? Too bad the airport is so far away from downtown Zurich. It'd be great to get the fraumunster or grossmunster underneath in some photos.

I'll third that. Each shot is great but the color scheme on that Lear is excellent, someone actually put some thought into that aircraft to not make it "the norm"

I agree. I like #4 with the houses in the background.

Thanks again guys.

Mumbles, I think the only possibility to get them head on with houses in background would be if I went in between the runways and then caught them just about to touchdown on 14. Might have a go in the summer as I'll have to persuade the met office to give me a lift out there :-)
