Which zoom setting for flash on bracket?

What zoom setting do you guys use when you have the flash mounted on a bracket + diffuser?

What would be better? zoomed in or zoomed out?

Assuming you mean the flash zoom thingy ?
I just leave it alone- I did do some tests with manual zoom on the flash and it didn't seem to make any difference.

I'm often using my flashes in a bounce or rotated head position which seems to lock the zoom anyway.

yes I know.

if you have the head at 90º they zoom to cover the lens focal distance, but if you move the head to another position they zoom (out or in, can't recall, but probably out to cover more area). So if you use the flash on the bracket you probably have the the head on a non 90º, thats why I asked which zoom setting you guys use.

I think if the zoom is out, the light should be more diffuse, but you are probably wasting power. Now I don't know if you need the diffusion since you already have the diffuser right next to it

You can manually set the zoom, this way even if you rotate the head (at least on my 580ex) it stays at the same zoom setting. When the head is turned, I set the zoom manually but the difference at such a small distance is very small ;)
