Hey guys and girls,

A little over a month ago I purchased a 7D so I could finally, after 3 years shooting Nikon, jump ship and enjoy Canon's sweet range of lenses. I've bought a 135 f/2L, 28 f/1.8 and 50 f/1.8 in the past month, and have plans to buy an 85 f/1.8, 400 f/5.6, and Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 in the coming months.

The 7D has been working flawlessly since I bought it - I came from a D300, and it's very similar in many ways so i'm quite content. However, one of the things I was really seeking when I decided to jump was a non-crop (or at least less of a crop, like 1.3x) body. I went the 7D because it had the newest technology, great AF, video, live view and many megapixels...but i've still always wanted a 1-series body so have never quite been content. I've found I haven't used the video function at all though, and no longer care about MP count, so the 1D2N seems logical in order to get 1.3 crop instead of 1.6.

Anyway, I was in my local camera shop the other day and there just happened to be a 1D2N sitting there, used with 16000 actuations for a reasonable price, and it got me thinking. I shoot action sports primarily (mountain bike and BMX), as well as landscapes, people and general travel, photojournalistic-type shots, and what i'm wanting to know is this: If it were up to you, which would you buy? (The 1DIIN is the same price i'm hoping to get for my 7D if I sell it...).

I'm not completely sure I want to sell my new toy so soon, but as I said I have always wanted a 1-series...

Any input would be much appreciated. ;)

Tristan.

I sold my MkIIN to buy the 7D. The 1D is a fine camera, but, I wanted to print bigger, and I wanted video. But, if that MkIIN is the same as what you can get for the 7D, it's way over priced. You can buy a MkII in the Sell forum here for under $1000. Why not buy one of those and keep the 7D. That's what I would do.

I like the 7D's noise handling; something you might want to consider for journalism/general photography. The downside is no grip which I do miss but sacrifice must be made!

Just buy the grip extra. ;)
