Anyone know what it's called, or have a link to buy one? I scuffed mine up cleaning it, before I realised it came out pretty easily :o

Alternately is there something that's pretty much like the original that's easily available?

Tim,

You can buy the stock EF-A screen here (external link). But since you're replacing it, why not buy the EF-D grid screen (external link) instead? It's an excellent addition and you really only see the grid lines when you're looking for them. When shooting weddings, I find the grid useful with my 10-22. It helps line up straight-line architectural features so you don't end up distorting the image.

Just a thought...

Bryan

Thanks Bryan. I don't need a grid, I just want to see the focus points. I see B&H has the EF-A screen, but I wonder if the EF-S would be a good idea instead.

What does a focus screen do anyway?

It's a matte glass that is the exact same distance (including the bounce off the mirror) from the lens as is the sensor or film. Because it is semi transparent an image is formed on it which we can see from the opposite side when looking through the viewfinder. The EF-S screen has a rougher finish on it which makes the image seem to snap into focus more abruptly, which makes it better for manual focusing, but it isn't as bright so it is better used with fast lenses.

Interesting, thanks :) I'll have a think and get some kind of screen. I never focus manually.
