My brother ordered a BG-E2N grip at Adorama on 12/30/09. The status on its website says that it was shipped on 12/30/09. He just now checked the tracking number on the usps website and it said that "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on January 8, 2010 to expect your package for mailing".
He called Adorama and they said he should received it on Monday but I doubt that he will get it by then. He is getting married January 16 so he needs the grip asap.
I just think that this is ridiculous that Adorama let something like this happen.

By the way, because he had been busy with his wedding plans, he had not been checking on his order regularly to realized that Adorama messed up. I guessed he trusted them too much.
Hopefully this is an isolated incident.

USPS tracking service is horrible, it's not Adorama's fault. Really not much more to be said.

Messed up by not shipping over New Years Holidays? huh?

It took a few days to get it in the mail after they got back but can you imagine the orders that pile up? If they are still in their estimated shipping window (and I'd bet they are), you can't be angry. If you paid for overnight, I would be upset, but regular shipping... nah. And you don't really need a grip for anything, do you?

I'm pretty sure you'll have it by the 16th. The holidays are a busy time for USPS and they get a little backed up. If you need something badly then choose a quicker shipping option next time.

I am just upset that Adorama said it was shipped on the 30th and they only notified usps today.
What does regular shipping have anything to do with it? Or why does it matter if I need a grip or not?

When was he supposed to receive it. Often when Amazon says arrives in 7 days, they take 5 days to ship and it gets to me on the 7th day. If you had paid for expedited shipping, I assume they would have expedited it.

Did your brother get any notice about the grip being on back order when it was ordered? They may have just got them in.

No, he said he didn't get any emails from Adorama other than the original one.
Here is the timeline:
12/30 - ordered
1/8 (today) - usps got the electronic notification from Adorama "to expect your package for mailing".
That is pretty long for processing time even if they started their processing on the 4th.
I ordered from Adorama before and I never had any problem with them.
Like I said, hopefully it's an isolated incident.
Let's move on...

You should wait till monday and see if it comes. I ordered something from another retailer. USPS tracking gave me a shipping arrival date of Jan 12th.. Yet it arrived yesterday (Jan, 7th)

USPS's tracking system is horrible and shouldnt' be trusted.

bought plenty from them and never had an issue. They and BH have been rock solid. There's an Adorama rep that trolls this site too....Helen Oster I think is her name.

It's OK. I don't think I want to bother her for something this minor. Thanks though.

Honestly, you have nothing to worry about. Adorama said it shipped on the 30th which means that it left there warehouse on the 30th. USPS is terrible with updates and what not so don't take it too personal. The update on the USPS site which says to expect your package...means that it'll come either today or tomorrow.
