but they claimed they fixed it or it is within spec?

I am still having inconsistent AF with my 7D. 1st and 2nd time they did some adjustments and said it was in spec. Now I have to send it in for the 3rd time. I know it's not my technique because I borrowed a co-worker's 7D and his AF was perfect under similar shooting situations.

This time I will be sending in photos on a CD and my lenses along with my camera to them to see if they can sort it out.

Owning this camera has been pretty frustrating for me. I'm not sure what sort of tests they do that meet their specs but it still does not seem to work to my satisfaction.

The tech support agent told me if the service center claims it is working to spec but it still does not work for me, I will have to take my case up with Canon's customer relations center to see if I can get a replacement. If I can't get a replacement then I'm pretty much stuck with a dud and I can't return it to the store because it's past the return period.

I had to send my 5D2 and lenses in three times. Getting tired of typing this story, so I'll be terse.

Big AF accuracy issues. Sent in 5D2+50+24-105. Fixed body, horqued lenses.
Sent in again. zoom horqued differently, 50 wasn't touched: still so bad it couldn't be MA'd even at -20
Sent in third time, talked to supervisor. Lenses MA right at 0, focus seems a lot better.

I still find that I need +2/3 or +1 EC all the time, am debating whether I should engage Canon again.

Being in California, you might be able to enact the Lemon Law. I think you can do so after sending something in for repair for 3x without resolution.

Does that apply to stuff other than cars in CA?

I just sent everything in again, they paid for shipping as usual. The tech support agent was really helpful and told me what I can do if I'm not satisfied with the next repair. He told me to contact him when I receive an email notice from the CSC getting my gear so he can get his supervisor to work with the CSC supervisor to give me priority and get a senior tech to look at it this time.

Wow -- you actually get notice of Canon receiving your gear? That only happened for me the first time -- the second two times I got it back with no receipt acknowledgement, and since they didn't send me job numbers I couldn't even track it online.

I get a receipt the next day, and the camera or lens back on my doorstep within 5 days. I've not had a problem. My 24-105 was soft focussing, and I sent them a CD with shots at 3 focal lengths; it came back fine, with a lens assembly replacement. Maybe it depends on the Service Center.

I've never had anything but good responses from Cust Service.

sometimes they do sometimes they don't. When I sent my 70-200 in for repeat repair, I got no notice.

since I already have the tracking number, I will know if it has been delivered so I can contact them.
