100=400 0n a 450d?

i have a 450d and was wondering how a 100-400 would perform.Mostly to photograph son playing football and some wildlife.Also going to Calgary in July.

It will perform just fine providing you're outside and there's good light.

just fine ... you will get even more of an effective focal lenght on the crop camera

Very true, but that's a shortcoming of the 100-400 and not the body. The 100-400 just likes it's light whether it's on a xxxd or xxD or xD body.

Agreed, it works great but keep in mind as mentioned, it is a 'light hungry' lens. Works even better stopped down too.

The pics in this gallery (external link) were shot with a 100-400 on a 1D MK III w/580EX II mounted on a monopod and triggered via off shoe cord.

Pics in this gallery (external link) were shot with the same camera and lens, just no flash.
