i have a 450d and was wondering how a 100-400 would perform.Mostly to photograph son playing football and some wildlife.Also going to Calgary in July.

Very true, but that's a shortcoming of the 100-400 and not the body. The 100-400 just likes it's light whether it's on a xxxd or xxD or xD body. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
