I have a "UDMA" CF card that I bought on accident. Anyway, I have not opened yet and I am wondering if it will work on any of my cameras before I open it. I have a:

5D Classic
1D Classic
10D
30D
1D II N

a UDMA card will work on any of those cameras. All UDMA cards are backwards compatible.

Yeah, it will work on any camera, but only the newest generation Canon dSLR's can make use of it's advantages. Just think of it as a purchase for the future :) . On the plus side, it should download your photos faster from the card to your computer than a slower card would, if you use a card reader.

But the card reader situation is the same as the camera situation. You'll only see the speed boost if the reader supports UDMA. Even then you'll soon hit the limit of USB's transfer rate.

I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread, as I was just wondering about this myself...

As a follow up question, which bodies DO take advantage of UDMA?

If you use a card reader for UDMA memory it also depends on what speed of the card reader can handle compatibly with the card in your computer.

The 50D, 5D Mark II, 7D, and 1D Mark IV all do.
