Hidden in the forest of trees
I stand alone and forlorn.
Windows shuttered, ugly metal door looking east,
Watching the morning Sun.

It was not always so.
I rose from the ground long ago,
Built by loving hands from native rocks,
I became a cabin to be proud of.

Open wooden door, smoke gently curling from the chimney.
I was filled with fun and love, joyful laughter, ringing song.
Dear Stranger, should you pass my way,
Please stop and say "Hello".

This could be a great pic, but it's just too dark, too hidden for me.

Thanks, Kenny. I applied "curves" in Picture Window Pro 3.5. I agree with you - brightness adjustment helped. One of these days I'll learn to fiddle before I post.:) The revised image is now posted at the top of the thread.

Hey I do the same thing. :) Does look some better. I think it's just too shaded. I have the same problem when trying to take running stream pics in the deep woods, just too shady to work well.

Best,
KAC

I think the problem is one of too much range in lighting, very hard to manage. Still it's an interesting picture, and the poem is touching. Is it yours? Are you going to include a poem with future posts?

Hi, Stan. Yes, I wrote the poem. After looking at the picture, I just felt that the old cabin had something to say. I don't write much poetry - when I do it just seems to come out.

Hope the crazy Front Range weather hasn't dampened your trip too much.

There are a lotta stops of light range in that pic. From deep shadow to bright sunlight. It's very hard, if not impossible, to get them all looking right.

A cool shot of a very rustic location, for sure.
