I've preordered 4 Einstein's and the appropriate transmitters for them. I'm thinking that 4 might be overkill but who cares! LOL

I'm so glad that they are finally releasing these things because i had issues with the alienbees + the x-series lights. And with the new einstein's, they have addressed those issues. My only complaint now is the 640Ws power rating - which might just be enough for me (not sure yet)

Here’s a list of what I didn’t like about them, though:

-accessory mount (they've strengthened it in the new Einstein's)
-There’s no ready-beep.
-They will fire when partially charged. (the new one's will do this as well, but by using the ready beep system, it should be MUCH easier to prevent firing the flash before it's fully recycled.
- Digital controls are much easier to manage.
- Power consistency on the lower end was an issue

... Yes, I pre-ordered 2. I almost purchased 1 AB400 and 1 AB1600 last month, but I decided to wait and see whether there was going to be an announcement after the first of the year. I sure am glad I waited. Since Einstein will have a power range that covers the lowest range of the AB400 and the highest range of the AB1600, I'll be set with these two lights. Unlike a lot of users, I was really interested in the LOWER end of the power rating, and will likely need all the power on less frequent occassions.

I just bought 2 x WLx1600's and I'm wondering if I should see if I can trade them in for a couple of these. I'm not sure how I feel about digital controls, I like the feel of the slider.

If you just got them then you should have no trouble returning them, paying the difference (or getting a refund) and getting the newer strobes.

do you think that there will be issues considering we are early adopters of these lights?

So a Profoto and an ebay light are they same? That's good to know. I just saved lots of money!;)

Only real negative w/ the Einsteins is the Radiopopper JrX's can't control them until they reverse engineer the digital port's protocol...

What testing have you done with the Einsteins to determine that is the only real negative?
