So a Profoto and an ebay light are they same? That's good to know. I just saved lots of money!;)

The light they put out is the same, though how it's directed and controlled is different. A good brand will have obvious advantages.

I called PCB and they are not trading in Alien Bees for the new Einstein. That sucks because I just bought two B1600's in Sept.

So you're months of use to the good. You could have chosen to wait.

They're supposedly now available for pre-order in Australia too, but it's unlear how, besides just buying them, which isn't pre-ordering.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Of course-- just plug it in.

I'm eagerly awaiting some extensive reviews, as I'd love to get a couple to use with my WL1600. I just wish the WL had a 'Ready Beep', because I'm sure I'll end up with shots where I hear the beep from an Einstein and fire before the WL is ready.

Looks like you're now unable to use your current title...

No, it's 645am, it's a bit early for trans-continental hugs.

What it looks like is still irrelevant, though.

I suppose eh,...the heat down there can't be helping things either.

So what's it do that the ab1600 can't do? From what I saw it just has a larger variable range of power (150-640w/s?)

Or is there more to it.

In short:
- Digital controls
- Constant temperature setting
- IGBT circuit
- variable voltage power supply
etc.

You could always just read the spec sheet (external link). Just a thought...

It goes down to 2.5 w/s not 150. Choice of constant color or speed. None of these can be done with a Bee.
