That's a fantastic post Dave. Too bad the person that should be paying the most attention won't give you the time of day, unless of course he decides to be defensive and destroy your post, sentence by sentence. You do realize you're wrong... correct? ;)

Didn't he have some sort of important PM with you Dave ? I would think this would make him at least give you the time of the day...

Unless his pm was asking if youd be willing to change your hair color and you turned him down...

I pretty much stopped posting in any of the PCB threads.

Its really hard to contain myself to where i would not say something inappropriate and degrade myself to his level.

That, and its mostly become a source of drama (soap opera entertainment) moreso then constructive information, especially with some key members banned.

Edit, i realized i have been calling some of you by your names, as opposed to your Nicks without introducing myself, my proper name is Laurian. Call me Lory if you wish :)

Feel free to call me Case.

Don't discuss hair color with Paul. That color is a secret formula and it comes from China. He wasn't happy with the last sample he got and now he he's being told it will be 6 to 8 weeks until they'll be able to deliver.

It isn't really a secret at this point: Believe it or not, he wanted to know if I'd be interested in working for him. He said he needed my "brains and innovation". I'd by lying if I said I wasn't flattered. The position he was looking to fill actually sounded very interesting. However, nothing came of it so you're stuck with me.

I think he was just trying to lure you to Nashville so he could remove your brain and keep it on ice for when the company needs it.

The company need it now! I have no doubt Dave would catch 99.9 of all these poor design issues before they reach the public. Instead his business model is to have the customer beta test the products..... I would not have a hard time finding Paul's quotes from AB Max to current up coming Einstein V3 claiming the mounting mechanism is much better than Alien bee or WL. Not to mention the state of the art internal ventilation.

Here we go to Einstein V3 and they are the major issues with the flashes. Crazy....
I hope at some point his flashes are ready for "Prime Time" Then again i don't think it will be long before another quality competitor launches something equal without the bugs.

Here are a couple of quotes of Paul

You have to remember I am one scientist/engineer doing the work of 20, in addition to marketing, finance, global logistics, Chairman - you name it. I would hire more engineers is I could find them . . . but they have to be almost as good as me or I'm wasting my time.

Now, if I relied on a mechanical engineer to do the mold designs, rapid prototypes would be necessary and what I do in a week and get made in a month would take 6-12 months and probably not work right.

He does keep telling us he can't get anyone sufficiently qualified to work for him. Is the US suffering a shortage of the requisite engineers?

Well, they're pretty clearly need someone like Dave RIGHT NOW. Fanboys or not, they're crapping in their own nest at an alarming rate.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Yup, and Jerry's right. It's not going to be long before we see tons of competition for PCB and they're going to become more and more attractive and there will be fewer and fewer reasons to look at Bees or Einstein's or whatever they'll be called.

Most people probably thought this and he probably didn't reply to your post because he respects you, believe it or not; he did enough to offer you a job after all ;)
I was actually hoping you'd take his job offer too...

Not just any doctor, a smarter doctor than any doctor he went and saw.

Is there ANYTHING he's not smarter than everyone else at?

(Besides, you know, releasing products that work.)

Nope.

Let's be real. The guy named his product Einstein and boasted about how it was going to change the face of lighting and was better than anything else and specifically names Profoto.

He couldn't possibly be more full of himself... unless of course he's going to claim that he's actually the father of modern physics.

Posts are still disappearing over at the PCB Shrine - I just had one deleted for asking a bloke if he could see the difference between gear that is taped up because it's had a hard, productive life, and "new" gear that's shipped before it's been tested properly and needs to be jerry-rigged.

He can't, apparently.

adamdewilde wrote:
Paul is sending out Einstein's because people are demanding them. He's sending them out with rubber bands because that's how he can get them to work as they should. Then he is doing a recall of the very same units at HIS COST shipping wise, fixing them, then shipping them out again at HIS COST. Knowing full well he's going to lose money, he still ships them out, who would do that other then someone who really truly cares about his customers?

Wouldn't someone who "really truly cares about his customers" get it right before shipping, and not use his paying customers as alpha/beta testers?

What a bunch of tools.
