Posted this question in the lens sample forum, bit quiet there, so excuse the double post. I'm fairly sure my next lens will be the 100mm L macro after watching the b&h vid. The AI servo function for only canon usm macro lenses looks really interesting, anyone tried this feature out ? Does it work as well as it appears it would ?

Most people do not use AF for macro work. What particular feature were you after?

Sure me too usually, but if you see the 7D vid at b&h the 7D has a super AI servo function that only comes into play when you are using a canon usm macro lens. It looks great for flowers gently moving in the wind, insect movements, handheld macro shots etc, looks very interesting ;)

I would personally not bother. From my experience with my 50D and 100mm F2.8L it is better to use MF. Of course perhaps this is some really fancy new feature but it would be the first I've heard of it.

Yeah it is a new feature only found on the 7D iirc from the tutorial vid, perhaps on the 1Dmk4 but I dont know about that body ;) It certainly looks interesting in the b&h vid :)
