I recently purchased a few Stroboframe shoe flash mounts and I'm wondering if I should put electrical tape or nail polish on the mount as advised by Dave Hobby over at Strobist. Are they safe to use as is?

Previously I just used the plastic flash stand from my 580EX flashes so this was never a concern for me.

Oh, and before I forget, as soon as you get it, if the shoe mount is made of metal PUT A PIECE OF ELECTRICAL TAPE ON TOP WHERE THE FLASH SITS. It could screw up the electronics in the month's-rent-worth-of-strobe you have sitting up there if you don't. I'm not kidding about that.

Are you referring to the black flash mount adapter with the red screw knob? If so, I wouldn't be too concerned. If you look closely at the adapter, you'll see that the it's got an indent on it so that the flash hotshoe pins do not come in contact with the adapter.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Flash_Mount_Adapter_.html (external link)
Okay, now I'll breathe a little easier. Thanks.
