very nice Gerard, he looks pretty cold in the first shot and great job on the exposure.

Excellent shots, especially photo #2.

Thank you.

Well done Gerard! I really like them.

Thanks Mike.

Two good shots but the first one is perfect with the male all puffed up. Good catch.

Thanks, I like #1 as well.

Nice modeling with #2, looks like a studio shot.

Thanks for the comment Stan.

Great detail. Seems almost perfect exposure especially given the shadows. I really like the detail and clarity in the eye on the first one. Nice shooting!

Thanks for the nice words Stan.

#2 is sharp as a tack. Seems a little unsaturated/flat, though. Reddish bird/brownish wood, reddish/gray background...tough to do much better!

On # 2, unlike # 1, I worked with LR2's tone curve to lighten the dark tones on the back of the bird, and to tone down the chest. I use vibrance a lot, but almost never the saturation tool. Maybe I could have saturated the reds a bit more though (still speaking of #2).

Thanks for the comment; yes it was around - 5 degrees C (23 degrees F), with a bit of Northern wind.
