I think this year is going to be a great year for me, found this kid, well, didn't really find him, know him for years already, from my dive shop, great kid, smart kid, graduating HS this May and will also have an associated Math degree from a local CC, just found out recently that he's into photography as well, 2 very expensive hobbies, diving and photography.

anyway, he goes to the same HS that i've been trying to get into to shoot sports for since last year, and I've recently started, he's been with me for less than a handful of games, "taught" him some stuff, well, basically, everything that I've learnt here and the SS video.

Actually, I've only taught him the "right" way to crop, horizon leveling, and what images to keep(ie, with face, or expression or action).

This HS is a freaking dungeon, ISO 6400 @ 2.8 and I can barely get 1/400, but somehow or other, his 40D seems to get more light than me with ISO 3200 @ 2.8...

Back to the point, I could not shoot the games last night cause I had to pick up my roommate at the airport, so left him alone. This was what he produced last night.

I'm proud, oh, he's 16 and these are from my facebook fan page.

Ah yes, the Seabreeze dungeon. I used to officiate games there. I nearly had to strap a flashlight to my head to see the action.

It's really nice to see someone sharing what they know and it must be gratifying to have your "student" do so well at such a young age. Perhaps it will inspire more of the many very talented folks who post here to do the same - much as they have taught us all here.

I'm very happy that he's showing that much potential in sports with such little and basic, I just placed an order of business cards for him. Hopefully, among his college choices, he will stay in FL, he has a college choice about 30 mins from where I'm at and he can keep shooting and diving, he can't do much diving if he goes off to Harvard or elsewhere.

I just wish there was more lights in there... ARGH!!!! i tried bringing in strobes, no help at all, well, the IQ did improve, but it's the AF that I'm interested in, with low light, it's hard for the camera's AF to work...

There is another kid that he found that goes to the same HS, this kid got a hand me down 1dMKiiN, 80-200, 300 f4 and 24-70. He's using my 70-200 in the picture cause I wasn't there. The girl sitting beside him is from the girls varsity team.

He likes to shoot to but his settings on his 1DMKiiN were "wrong" for sports, so taught him some basic stuffs and settings and the miracle of the * button and let him loose, there were some decent images reportedly, LOL but he doesn't have lightroom, so it might take a while for me to see his results.

I think for those that are looking to get into HS sports, having the HS kids do it makes it even easier to get into the door??? It's starting to create a small hype in the school, now I have to approach the spring sports teams and do a couple of posters and I should be good.
