Hey all,

I'm sorta new to the world of DSLR photography. I had an XTi for a couple of years and dabbled with it and minor post processing. I recently picked up a used 40d and would REALLY like to start getting into it. Here are a couple of I took of my puggle Micah and my cat Sly. I would really appreciate any comments, criticism, etc. on how to make my pictures better!

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks. Anything I can do to make those photos pop a bit more in terms of composition or PP?

I agree with Rebel, as a portrait shot, 1 & 3 are really clean and nice... 1 could have been just a tad sharper... 3 however is spot on.

Id try a few action shots, of them doing what they do... :D

Youv got some really nice pics there though... have a look at some i took of my friends cat!

Don't shoot down at the cat. Get on the cat's level like you did with the dog. Then you will actually be able to see the ears and expression of the cat. #2 is a crouch, not a sit and not reclining, crouching shots are not all that flattering on cats.

Great feedback. Thanks for that!

The first two are great as you did a good job getting some light in the eyes, but the angle is awkward. In the last pic you did a great job of getting to the animal's eye level. Now just combine the two :D JMO
