Gimp help

Want to download Gimp.Checked link in sticky but got confused.Stable version,unstable and installers.What do i need to down load?Will Gimp open raw files or do i need to download another program?I do have Canon software.Do i open raw files there then tranfer to Gimp?Thanks in advance

what you download depends on the operating system you have. Windows and Mac require different downloads.

There is no raw support, you can use DPP or dcraw depending on your camera. Most would use like PS so, do your raw stuff then export to work either in PS or GIMP.

There are loads of tutorials on the web and a Sticky in this forum regarding Gimp as well.

Once you have GIMP installed you can install the GIMP plugin version of UFRaw.

When you try to open a raw file in GIMP, UFRaw will spawn and you can do your raw stuff there. When you hit 'OK', it'll open the file in GIMP where you can either save it (as XCF or maybe a TIFF) or edit it and save as a JPEG or something else.

Assuming you are using Windows XP SP2 or later... the following will start the download for the latest stable version of GIMP.
