Ok, so i started shooting really low budget rap videos with my T1i in my area for an artist that I manage...after the first video, i started getting emails from other artists wanting me to shoot their videos. So in one week i booked 5 video shoots for the month of january.

I know almost everyone of the other rappers so I'm charging pretty cheap. Another artist called me up today and invited me over to his studio to talk about business. I've done a few photo shoots for his cds over the last 2 years so I figured it would be about that. He asked me to shoot two videos for the cd he is releasing this week that I also did the photos for the cover. He saw 3 videos I shot in the last 2 weeks and wants me to do his videos. He understands my equipment for video is very basic and told me this "what do I need to buy you to make my video's the best you can shoot for me?"...he knows I can still pretty much only produce a low budget video but wants to buy me the things that will step up the quality of his video.

So now the question is this....I was thinking of getting a dolly track system but the prices are well over 2 thousand dollars and I wouldnt want to take advantage of his money like that. I showed him the difference between a hand held shot vs a camera on a dolly and he liked what he saw. Should I save him a few dollars and get a merlin steadicam and some lights to use for my t1i or would a dolly track system be a better choice? I know him fairly well and spending a few thousand dollars isn't a big deal to him, but i'd hate to seem like im taking advantage of him since i'm only charging $500 for a simple video shoot.

I actually laughed with this one... Uses mcmaster-carr/ other supplier pieces for about 40% more than the cost of the parts. There are plenty of threads on how to build your own here and in other forums. And the other ones are strong enough to let you stand on them too ;)

Don't get me wrong, it'll work just fine, but I don't trust that glide block to go as smoothly as some other similarly priced options.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

thank you so much for this website! its affordable and in the US...i was going to purchase something like the indislider from the UK and was costing me close to $400...thank you.

I tried building a track and dolly system...i guess i wasnt blessed with building skills haha....i'd rather pay for something than not be happy with it...thanks again...Even if I dont add these items to the list of things i will need for the videos, I can definitely afford these on my own. Thanks again

if you look at the blog and the video for George lucas that was posted a couple of days ago, the shooter used one of the glidetracks for that. It looked very smooth to me.

Got a link? All I could find on the net was the pro sliders. I'm looking for the cheap slider demo
