Why doesn't PSE7 recognize my G11's CR2 files?

We just got a brand new G11, and have had it for 2 days. I love this thing. After a great shoot this evening I tried to open my RAW images in PSE7 and it says it can't because they are the wrong file type. It opens my 50D's RAW CR2's with no problem. What gives? :(

You need to download the Adobe DNG converter here: http://www.adobe.com …/downloa...jsp?ftpID=4620 (external link)

This will batch convert your G11 raw files into Adobe's Digital Negative Format, probably a better format for archiving anyway... then you will be able to open it for raw processing in CS3. I convert all of my raw files to DNG and I don't even need to.

I would just use the DPP software that came with your camera. I too have PSE7, G11 and think DPP does a much better raw conversion. If you must use PSE7 for raw conversion you need to have at least ACR 5.5 plug in. I went through the same thing when when I aquired my G11. PSE7 had ACR version 4.6 and that would not open the G11 raw files

Hi Agged,
Just download the latest RAW 5.6 plug-in from Adobe (link below). This is compatible with PSE 7 & 8

Thanks for the feedback guys. I ended up scrapping the plan to download the Adobe (I'm computer challenged).

I tried the DPP and must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. I will run DPP with the G11 for the time being. I'll try to con one of my more computer saavy friends to come over and set me up with Camera RAW 5.6.
