Maybe it sounds like an odd question, but it's always bugged me that my 300D and 400D were both ANNOYINGLY tardy when navigating an image.
That is- when zooming in on an image then panning to check it out , it's just too slow. Are the newest bodies faster?

I was surprised recently when i used my sisters ultracheap canon A480 (i think),It's so quick!:) What a pleasure

How fast is your card?

I have seen a 1D camera rendered almost unuseable by a slow card.

depends on the card, as Gaffer says. I used a generic cheapo card and was pulling my hair out. went back to my SanDisk Extreme III and was happy again.

HUGE difference in viewing/deleting/bursting photos. spend more and get a faster card, at least 30 MB/s. and not the "up to 30 MB/s cards" - they're junk for our purposes.

I don't seem to have any delay on the T1i (500D), could it be your sd card?

Thanks guys-that's good to know when i eventually decide to upgrade.
Yes i have a decent card- a sandisk extreme III

I just got the chance to try a 5D and found it much better than my 400D.It's still slightly tardy though.

Yeah my 400D is really slow browsing through photos but the 40D is as fast as you can spin the wheel!

About a year ago I was doing a lot of shooting with the classic 5D. I hadn't touched the 40D for a couple of months. When I went back to the 40D, I was momentarily surprised at how much faster the 40D was.
