Hey All,
I am confused on which beauty dish to purchase, looks like they have two versions Alienbee HO silver and white version. I will be using this for both outdoor and indoor portraits. Thanks a bunch.

Since they just started shipping the white one, you probably wont get a comparison yet. I have the silver and its certainly high output. I found it to give nice contrasty light when working close, but if you move too far away from the subject its a bit hard edged.

"TMR design" was nice enough to explain the differences in the Bearty dishes HERE!

The first people to receive the new White HOBD should be getting them soon. I'm sure they will post results here or in the AlienBees Thread.

I have the HO beauty dish and i baught it because it was soo cheap. Light is harsh/contrasty so i am using the sock. much better, my buddy has one and is using the grid... excellent is how i would rate it with a grid. im thinking ill leave mine as is and get a grid. next alternative is to paint it white. for $48.00 you cant go wrong.
