Just out of curiosity, how much did you get there in R.I.? I had an average of about 20 inches, but some cities/towns got upwards of 28 inches. We had rain and fog this past Monday, so it actually ate up a good part of the snow.

I recall one storm we got 3' overnight in the mid '90s when I was in high school. The pile at the end of the driveway was in excess of 4' from the snowplows. Everything went on as usual, just another day there. We used to get a lot of snow there; lately, not so much.

We had a blizzard in 1978, it's a benchmark for all other snowstorms in the area. We got about 5 feet of snow in 2 days, the storm just parked itself over us and didn't move. I was 12 years old at the time, and it happened on a Monday afternoon. We had the rest of the week off, and the following week was our February vacation, so we had 2 weeks off. Cars were stranded on the highway, it was pretty epic. Do a Google search on "Blizzard of 78" and you should find pics.

It was epic, 67" near where I'm from, snowdrifts up to second story windows. 28th Jan 77-1st Feb 77 is when it started. I googled it. One of the local stations has a story on it from which is where the info came from. It was crazy, people getting stuck/stranded and all kinds of other problems associated with a storm of that magnitude. One thing of note, ice storms are far more dangerous there than snow, for the most part.
