Out playing in the really damp / cold and foggy conditions - the mk4 still surprises me.

Amazing shot. How does that plane fly so low without crashing into the rocks? Where are you taking this amazing shot?

We were shooting from an A-36 Bonanza and all parties involved have lots of air to air experience. We planned the route to maximize time in front of the mountains but we left our subject plenty of room to maneuver.

Scott Slocum (of My Bombshells fame) shooting Man O' war air to air. Scott was the primary shooter and he was kind enough to let me ride along and shoot as well.

Safety is paramount (obviously) but doubly so when you're working with rare (read: ginormously expensive) aircraft.

The preflight briefing is vital so everyone knows what to expect. You try to cover everything ahead of time so there are no surprises.

Our subject kind of shocked us at one point when he peeled away toward the mountains (a planned move) but he just kept going and going and going away from us. We kind of puckered a little, but it turns out he had lots more room than it appeared from our perspective.

He's probably nearly a half mile from the rocks in my first image. The Superstitions are deceivingly large.

Jay, that is a fantastic shot!!
Perfect, with the light on the near side of the Mustang and then the sunlight on the hills in the background. Amazing
