I could sit all day looking at them. And they are huge! A pity less than 400 of them exists in the wild now, yes less than 400. So unfortunate to hear... Talk about being on the verge of extinction... Thx for the info, Gene... Hi. My name is Butch...

airbutchie Not too crunchy More info | Aug 05, 2014 10:41 | #3696 Up close and PERSONAL... Our cruise ship got as close as it can get to Sawyer Glacier @ Tracy Arm Fjord... According to the cruise director, he mentioned that the height of this glacier stands almost twice the height of the Empire State Building... And is about two mile wide from end-to-end... I was able to take this shot to show its massive size in one frame @ 400mm... As our ship began to slowly get some distance away, I was able to take several singular frames to create a panoramic of Sawyer Glacier... I will post that tomorrow for your viewing pleasure... In the meantime, here's an 'up close and personal' view of this gigantic piece of ice... 1D4 + 400L DO IS... ISO 400, f/4 @ 1/2000sec... ![]() Hi. My name is Butch...

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever!

Love the shade of blue those glaciers are. The 400mm really shows the detail nicely. You can almost "feel" the power. Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever!

Thanks, you two!!! Now here's the panoramic of Sawyer Glacier... 12 image stitch from end to end... If you look at the left of the frame, you can see closeup capture I took from the previous image... I hope that gives you a better scale and size of this amazing glacier... ![]() Hi. My name is Butch...
