Great stuff Mark. I'm really impressed at what I'm seeing from the 2x TC ver3 and the second generation 500L.

Thanks Steve. The combination does work well especially if you remember to use the focus distance switch (e.g. for a bird 20 yards away there's no point letting the camera search within 0 to 10 metres so set the lens accordingly.) Focus acquisition is noticeably faster with this set too.

Thanks Thomas. It was pushing the minimum focus distance so approx 3.7 metres.

Had to live without a 1D for 4 months after almost all my gear got stolen in May. Found a good deal on a used 1D4 last week & couldn't resist to pick it up on Wednesday. Started "beating it up" at a rally during the weekend, feels like coming home again :).

The Los Angeles Arboretum is full of peacocks... And they're not scared of humans, either... They'll walk past without blinking an eye... And they do like to pose when there's big camera lenses pointed at them... Hehehe... This one was about 10 feed away from me... Minimal cropping (top) for framing purposes... 1D4 + 200 1.8L... ISO 100, f/2.8 @ 1/200sec...

:)
