Huge thanks to Canada Post, the USPS, customs and the POTN member who sold me the 1Div. It arrived a day early and all outward appearances are that it sat 'mothballed' for several years=nary a ding, scratch, blemish to be found.....but i didn't use a magnifying glass.
Happily the previous owner was a 'sports' shooter and all settings are as if I'd set it up myself.
So off to the backyard for a trial-

Initial impressions are robust, fast, loud. Noise cleans up easily (I cheat and use DXO Optics Prime). Doesn't feel any heavier than a gripped 7Dii. Will have to get used
to the door latch to get to the cards. Obviously today's quick test was a rarity with Sun. I won't judge this machine until I'm shooting at ISO 6400. In the mean time
Poof will have a faster machine for BIF when that time comes.
Also, it's nice to own a classic and drink a bit of the coolaid ;)

Ooops, forgot there was one more-

Congrats MedicineMan! It is a beast of a body. I sometimes feel it's lighter than my 5D3 gripped. Enjoy~

1Div RAW question.
It is has a 16mp sensor correct? yet my RAW files are 20.8mb's.
Has it always been this way with other cameras and sensors?
Example when I shoot the Sony it has 42.4mp sensor and the RAW
files are 42ish mb. When I go uncompressed RAW they are over 80mb
in size.
So how is it that the 1Div's RAWs are larger than the sensor?
Funny I'd just now be wondering about such a thing.
Matters not really , just a curiosity.

MegaBytes and MegaPixels do not equate.

If they ever do, it's purely coincidence.

Go out and shoot the 1D4 in good solid light, low iso and solid colors like a cloudless sky and watch the MB size of the file drop.
Shoot something complex with lots of varying color and detail at high ISO and watch the MP go up.

However there will still be 16 million pixels in both images.
I have raw files from the 1D4 ranging from low of about 15MB up to 28MB!

Also, it depends on the ISO, too. Higher ISO can generate larger files.

thanks Jake :)

Something else I noticed in the thirty min's I had to play with it today.

IF I want to shoot kids on bikes, birds flying, etc. Then generally I want F8.
So if in the aperture range I choose F8-F11, put it in auto-ISo, then I can choose
Tv and 1/1250 for example BUT still have access to exp. comp on the big scroll wheel.

This seems like the closest I can emulate the 7Dii's Manual, auto-iso and still
be able to adjust exp. comp.

Logical?

Yep, that customisation gives you quick access to EC in Av or TV but not in manual mode with auto ISO.

You can dial in a 'pseudo EC' via C.Fn 1:16 Exposure AE Microadjustment through a range of -1 to +1 stop in 1/8 stop increments and this works in all modes and adjusts whatever your exposure is (EC or no EC) by that amount.

I have found that having +3/8 on permanently seems to work for me across M Tv and Av, if I need to apply more or less EC when using auto ISO I just shoot in TV or Av and dial in the EC as needed via the back button.
