Well, MM, I'd do almost anything to see a snowy owl! Great image and interesting bokeh.

There's enough around here in the winter (wasn't so in the past) that after a photographing frenzy the first couple of winters, they are even almost ignored today.
On a hour trip through the country north and east of here you will almost always see one or two in the fields or on the various poles.

I've never seen a snowy. I do find it funny that I would have to fly south to find a bird associated with the Arctic. :-) just my luck I guess.

I don't have to tell you guys/gals it's cold up here but nothing like last year and so little snow. Last year I waded knee deep (and that is not an exaggeration). This year the lack of snow is hurting the photographer but is great for the raptors. Still getting some luck with my first Rough-legged hawk-

Maxdave, where is 'here'?

I am about 80 kilometres east and slightly south of Detroit, Michigan, in southwestern Ontario ... specifically in a small city, Chatham, population of 40,000 or so, surrounded by agricultural lowland.

I had never seen a wild snowy until three winters ago, when they started showing up in an area of reclaimed lake bottom just north and west of Chatham. Since then, they are spotted all over the county during the winter. They disappear in the spring, presumably to fly north.

Yesterday (Sunday) a friend of mine (Chad Barry), captured this snowy (he says she is a adult female) near Chatham ... he used a 5D3 with a 70-200 f/2.8 and 1.4X TC.
