Phoenixkh a mere speck More info | Apr 12, 2016 18:39 | #4893 I met an Irish photographer yesterday at the St Augustine rookery. He said he recently saw this cartoon: a wife enters the front door of the house and all throughout the house are roses... in vases, in bunches on every flat surface and rose pedals on the floor. The format functions in Windows depend on the OS version and on 32 or 64 bit of that OS and on the size of the media targeted to format. In other words those criteria will limit what you as the user can actually do. Your method will fail miserably on every 64 bit OS if the card is larger than 32 gig. In Win10 the windows format tool will not even give you an option. Trust me.... Cheers I'm running Windows 10... I do get the option. That being said, I do not have a card larger than 32GB to test on. But, it does work on 32 and down, for sure. I have always been able to do this, on all my 64-bit Windows OS's. I may also be misunderstanding In Win10 the windows format tool will not even give you an option. , but I took that to mean Windows 10 won't do it with any card, of any size. Phoenixkh a mere speck More info | Apr 14, 2016 12:58 | #4899 I ended up just buying a couple of the older 32 GB SD cards. They are inexpensive at the moment anyway and I only use them for backup. Until the other day, I had never filled up an empty 32 GB card so I was a bit shocked. I was watching and waiting for him to do something, then got distracted and missed it. Oh well. Didn't have time to wait around for him to do it again.
