(3 edits in all) | Aug 20, 2016 13:09 | #5288 Went to the park around sunrise. Beautiful light. This is uncropped and I chose to keep it that way. It's strange, but the longer I've been photographing birds the more I like showing the bird in its habitat. I did very little to the image. I applied a bit of noise reduction and very little output sharpening. I know it won't be to everybody's liking as it could be argued it's too bright and needs to be toned down, but I love it just as it is. I only wish I could have stopped down the lens and have both birds in focus. Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752

I like the high(ish) key of the herons and, anyway, it's what you like that matters.

Too bright? I bet that is exactly the lighting extent at the time of capture. I can see why you like it as is, me too ![]() You are absolutely right, this is how it was and why I decided to leave it alone in post. Thank you, Robert! MedicineMan4040 wrote in post #18101100 Now this one is just plain beautiful. Didn't notice the bug until I read your discussion with Annie ![]() I was drawn to the enticing red eye and the pinkish beak. They are beautiful birds and although they are changing into their Winter coats now the light helped bring out the colours that are still there. You should see them in their breeding plumage! Thanks again, Robert. Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752
